# Getting Started with AI Studio

AI Studio has three modes: **Generate**, **Stencil**, and **Preview**. Open **More** → **Studio** under **Gallery** in your artist workspace.

## Choose a mode

1. Select **Generate** to create a design from a description. Enter **Tattoo Description**, then choose a style and any placement, size, or color settings you need.
2. Check **Number of Designs** and the selected **Project**. The reference uploader accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP, with up to five files shown in the current form.
3. Select **Generate Design** once. Wait for the result or an error before starting another request.
4. Review the result carefully. A generated design may differ from your prompt, so check its details before using it.
5. Use **Save** to open **Save Designs to Project**, or **Export** to download a copy. In the save dialog, choose the correct project and select **Save to Project**. Reopen the project to check that the design is there.

## Create a stencil

Select **Stencil**, upload one reference image, and wait for the upload to finish. Choose **Low**, **Medium**, or **High** detail, then select **Create Stencil** when available.

If the reference says **Failed**, conversion has not started successfully. Remove the failed image and follow the error guidance. See [Creating Stencils from Photos](https://help.useapprentice.com/en/article/creating-stencils-from-photos-s4twg2/).

## Preview placement

Select **Preview**. This mode asks for a body-part photo and a tattoo design. It includes placement, rotation, scale, opacity, and edge-blending controls.

Use a photo you have permission to upload. Review the placement and available settings before selecting **Generate Preview**. A preview helps discuss a design; inspect the result with your client before finalizing it.

## Save your work deliberately

Generating a result and saving it to a project are separate steps in the standalone workflow. Download a copy you need to keep, and verify the project before assuming a client can see it.

If a page fails to load after saving, wait and reopen it before repeating the save. Contact support if the expected result remains missing.
