# Setting Up Stripe Connect

Start by checking who manages payment collection for your workspace.

## Check your payment setup

1. Choose **Your studio**. On mobile web, open **More → Setup → Settings**.
2. Under **Get Paid**, choose **Payment Collection**.
3. Read the **Payment Collection** card. If it says payments are handled through your shop, contact your shop administrator to set up or manage collection.

4. Review **Payment Methods Accepted** separately. These controls describe the methods displayed to clients; selecting a displayed method does not complete Stripe onboarding.
5. Review **Pricing Visibility** to check which pricing details appear on your public booking page.

## If you are directed to Stripe

Follow the requirements in the onboarding flow for your account. Stripe's form varies with your country, business type, and account capabilities.
Use your own accurate business and identity information; do not copy an example business category or tax identifier from a guide.

Keep onboarding links private. When you return to Apprentice, check the payment setup status and any remaining requirements.
Returning from Stripe alone does not prove that payment collection is enabled.
See [Stripe's onboarding guidance](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/hosted-onboarding) for how its verification flow works.

## If setup is unavailable

- **Shop-managed payments:** Ask the shop administrator to check the shop's payment settings.
- **Remaining verification requirements:** Follow the requirements shown for the connected account.
- **Payment method displayed, but collection unavailable:** Check the collection status separately from the public payment-method labels.

For payout timing, processing fees, and tax documents, use the current information for your connected account. These details can vary; this guide does not promise a fixed schedule or threshold.

## Shop bookings, fees, and refunds

- **Shop bookings** always use the shop's Stripe account, never yours. A shop owner or admin sets it up in the shop's **Settings → Payments**. Set up your own account for your solo work.
- **Card statements** show the Stripe statement descriptor of whoever took the payment. Use a name clients will recognize, like your studio name.
- **Fees:** By default, your client pays the fees on top. To cover them yourself, choose **I'll cover the fees** under **Fee Handling** in your payment settings.
- **Payouts:** Card payments land in your Stripe account first. Stripe pays them to your bank on your payout schedule. Apprentice can't promise a date.
- **Refunds:** Refund clients in Apprentice when you can. If you refund in your Stripe Dashboard, Apprentice takes that amount back from your Stripe balance and keeps its fee. See [Refunding a Payment](https://help.useapprentice.com/en/article/refunding-a-payment-q7985/).
