Resetting Your Password
Learn how to reset your Apprentice password if you've forgotten it or need to change it for security reasons.
Overview
If you've forgotten your password or need to reset it, Apprentice uses a secure email-based password reset system. You'll receive a password reset link via email that allows you to create a new password.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Navigate to the Sign-In Page
Go to the Apprentice sign-in page at [your-domain]/auth/signin.
Step 2: Click "Forgot Password"
Below the password field, you'll see a "Forgot your password?" link. Click this link to begin the password reset process.
Step 3: Enter Your Email Address
On the password reset page:
- Enter the email address associated with your Apprentice account
- Click "Send Reset Link"
Step 4: Check Your Email
Within a few minutes, you should receive an email from Apprentice with the subject line "Reset Your Password" or similar.
Important: Check your spam/junk folder if you don't see the email within 5 minutes.
Step 5: Click the Reset Link
- Open the password reset email
- Click the "Reset Password" button or link
- You'll be redirected to a secure page to create your new password
Step 6: Create Your New Password
On the password reset page:
- Enter your new password
- Confirm your new password by entering it again
- Click "Update Password"
Password Requirements:
- Minimum 8 characters
- At least one uppercase letter recommended
- At least one number recommended
- Avoid using easily guessed information (birthdays, names, etc.)
Step 7: Sign In with Your New Password
After successfully resetting your password, you'll be redirected to the sign-in page. Use your email and new password to log in.
Tips
- Use a Strong Password: Combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters for better security
- Use a Password Manager: Consider using a password manager like 1Password, LastPass, or Bitwarden to generate and store strong passwords
- Don't Reuse Passwords: Use a unique password for Apprentice that you don't use on other websites
- Reset Link Expiration: Password reset links expire after 1 hour for security reasons. If your link has expired, request a new one
Common Issues
- Issue: "Email not found" error → Solution: Double-check your email address spelling, or contact support if you're certain the email is correct
- Issue: Reset email not arriving → Solution: Check spam/junk folder, verify email address, and wait up to 10 minutes before requesting another link
- Issue: Reset link expired → Solution: Request a new password reset link from the sign-in page
- Issue: "Password too weak" error → Solution: Use a stronger password with at least 8 characters, including uppercase letters and numbers
