Your Apprentice artist profile is your digital portfolio and booking hub. A complete profile helps clients understand your style, availability, and booking process. This guide walks you through setting up every section of your profile to make the best first impression and streamline client bookings.


Step-by-Step Guide


Step 1: Complete Your Basic Information


  1. Log in to your Apprentice account
  2. Navigate to SettingsProfile
  3. Fill in your basic details:
  • Display Name: How clients will see your name (e.g., "Sarah Smith Tattoos")
  • Bio: A brief introduction (2-3 sentences about your style and experience)
  • Years of Experience: Helps clients understand your expertise level
  • Studio Location: City and state where you work


Step 2: Upload Your Profile Photo


  1. Click Change Photo under your profile picture
  2. Select a professional photo (headshot or you working recommended)
  3. Crop the image to fit the circular frame
  4. Click Save Photo


Tips for profile photos:

  • Use good lighting and clear resolution
  • Show your face or you in action tattooing
  • Avoid busy backgrounds
  • Keep it professional and welcoming


Step 3: Add Your Tattoo Specialties


  1. In the Specialties section, select your primary tattoo styles
  2. Choose up to 5 styles you're most skilled in:
  • Traditional
  • Realism
  • Blackwork
  • Fine Line
  • Japanese
  • Watercolor
  • And more...

Step 4: Configure Your Contact Information


  1. Email: Verify your email address for client notifications
  2. Phone Number: Add and verify your phone number for SMS notifications
  3. Social Media: Link your Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok accounts
  4. Website: Add your personal website URL if you have one


Step 5: Set Up Your Booking Preferences


  1. Navigate to SettingsBooking
  2. Configure your preferences:
  • Accept Walk-ins: Toggle on if you take same-day appointments
  • Require Deposits: Enable to require deposits for all bookings
  • Booking Notice: Minimum advance notice for appointments (e.g., 48 hours)
  • Max Booking Window: How far in advance clients can book (e.g., 90 days)


Step 6: Add Portfolio Images


  1. Go to Portfolio in your dashboard
  2. Click Upload Images
  3. Select multiple images of your best work
  4. For each image, add:
  • Style: Categorize the tattoo style
  • Placement: Body location
  • Description: Brief notes about the piece (optional)

  • Upload at least 10-15 high-quality images
  • Show variety in your styles and placements
  • Include close-ups and full shots

Step 7: Create Your Public Artist Page


  1. Navigate to SettingsPublic Page
  2. Customize your URL: apprentice.com/artist/your-name
  3. Choose a theme color that matches your brand
  4. Toggle on Show Booking Button to let clients book directly
  5. Preview your public page and click Publish


Step 8: Review and Publish


  1. Review all sections of your profile for accuracy
  2. Ensure all required fields are complete
  3. Click Save Profile
  4. Share your public artist page link with clients

  • Keep it updated: Regularly add new portfolio images and update your bio
  • Be specific: Mention your specialties and what makes your style unique
  • Professional tone: Use clear, friendly language in your bio
  • Link social media: Cross-promote your Instagram and other platforms
  • Enable notifications: Make sure you're set up to receive booking requests promptly
  • Add flash designs: Upload flash designs to attract quick bookings


Common Issues


  • Issue: My profile photo won't upload → Solution: Ensure the image is under 5MB and in JPG or PNG format. Try resizing the image if it's too large.


  • Issue: My public page isn't showing → Solution: Make sure you clicked "Publish" in the Public Page settings. Wait a few minutes for changes to go live.


  • Issue: Clients can't book me → Solution: Check that your availability schedule is configured and you have open time slots. Verify the booking button is enabled on your public page.


  • Issue: My portfolio images are low quality → Solution: Upload higher resolution images. Avoid screenshots—use original photos with good lighting.


  • Issue: I can't verify my phone number → Solution: Ensure you're entering your number with the correct country code. Wait 2-3 minutes for the verification code to arrive.
