Apprentice offers two artist subscription tiers: Free and Pro. Each tier provides different feature limits for AI generations, client management, and advanced tools. This guide helps you understand what's included in each plan and choose the tier that best fits your business needs and growth stage.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Compare Subscription Tiers

Individual Free Plan - $0/month

Best for: Artists just starting out or testing the platform

Included Features:

• 10 AI generations per month
• Up to 50 clients
• Basic booking calendar
• Client chat and messaging
• Portfolio hosting (1 GB storage)
• Mobile-responsive public artist page
• Email and in-app notifications

Limitations:

• Limited AI generations
• 50 client limit
• Limited storage (1 GB)
• Standard support

Individual Pro Plan - $59/month (or $566/year)

Best for: Working artists running a full tattoo business

• Unlimited AI generations
• Unlimited clients
• 50 GB storage
• Everything in Free, plus:
• Advanced AI features (style transfer, stencil generation)
• Google Calendar sync
• SMS notifications

Step 2: Check Your Current Usage

To see how much you're using:

1. Go to Settings → Subscription
2. View your Usage Dashboard:

• AI generations used this month
• Active clients count
• Storage used

3. Identify if you're approaching your plan limits

Step 3: Upgrade or Downgrade

To change your subscription tier:

1. Navigate to Settings → Subscription
2. Click Change Plan
3. Select your new tier (Free or Pro)
4. Review the pricing and features
5. Click Confirm Change

Billing Notes:

• Upgrades: Prorated charges apply immediately
• Downgrades: Take effect at the end of your current billing cycle
• Cancellation: Your plan remains active until the end of the billing period

Step 4: Set Up Payment Method (Pro Plan)

For the Pro plan:

1. Navigate to Settings → Billing
2. Click Add Payment Method
3. Enter your credit card details
4. Set your billing address
5. Click Save Card
6. Your subscription charges on the same day each month

Step 5: Monitor Your AI Generation Usage

AI generations are rate-limited to prevent abuse:

1. Check your AI Generation Quota in Settings → Subscription
2. See daily breakdown of generations used
3. Set up Low Quota Alerts to notify you at 80% usage (Free plan)

Rate Limits (All Plans):

• Maximum 6 generations per minute

• Watch your AI usage on Free: AI generations are limited on Free—use them strategically on client projects
• Annual billing saves money: Pay annually and save ~20% ($566/year vs $708 monthly)

Common Issues

• Issue: I ran out of AI generations mid-month → Solution: Upgrade to Pro for unlimited AI generations.

• Issue: My card was declined → Solution: Check your card details are correct, has sufficient funds, and international transactions are allowed. Contact your bank if issues persist.

• Issue: I downgraded but still see Pro features → Solution: Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing cycle. You'll have access to your current tier until then.

• Issue: I want to cancel but keep my portfolio → Solution: Downgrade to the Free plan instead of canceling completely. Your portfolio remains accessible on the Free tier (up to 1 GB).

• Issue: I hit the 50 client limit on Free → Solution: Upgrade to Pro for unlimited clients, or archive inactive clients to free up space.
