Advanced Canvas Techniques
Layering Annotations
Strategy:
- Use highlighter for broad areas
- Add rectangles for zones
- Place annotations at specific points
- Use text for measurements or labels
Why This Works:
- Visual hierarchy
- Multiple levels of feedback
- Clear communication
- Organized markup
Color-Coding System
Establish with Client:
- Yellow highlighter = Suggestions
- Green highlighter = Approved areas
- Red highlighter = Changes needed
- Blue highlighter = Questions
Benefits:
- Quick visual scanning
- Clear communication
- Organized feedback
- Easy to track progress
Annotation Best Practices
Be Specific:
- Pin exact location
- Write clear comment
- Reference nearby elements
- Include reasoning
Example Good Annotations:
✅ "Make rose petals more defined here"
✅ "Increase line weight on this curve"
✅ "Add more shading to create depth"
Example Poor Annotations:
❌ "Fix this" (too vague)
❌ "Better" (no context)
❌ "Change" (unclear what to change)
Using Arrows Effectively
Communication:
- Point to specific details
- Show direction of flow
- Indicate movement
- Connect related elements
Example Uses:
- "Extend this line to here" (arrow shows direction)
- "Flow should go this way" (shows motion)
- "Connect these elements" (links two areas)
